The JP-1 planter is a single row manual hand-held seeder designed by field engineers to plant small vegetable or flower seeds: beetroot, cabbage, carrots, corn salad, lavender, mint... With the right choice of seed rollers, it is also perfectly suitable for larger seeds.

A revolution in the vegetable and flower garden

Created for market gardeners, landscape gardeners,... in fact any gardener with up to 2,000 square metres to sow in a day. Our manual seeder is easy to use, to set up (some settings only require a 12 mm spanner) and very precise.

  • A simplified hopper removal mechanism, identical to the other JP series models (changing rollers and cleaning is easier),
  • Practical new handle slides out to the left or to the right. This allows the user to walk next to the row while still applying enough pushing pressure for easy sowing.

Completely adjustable settings

A selection of drive chain gears are provided as standard equipment in order to set the spacing for spot seeding. You can, of course, choose line seeding as well. Planting depth is easily set by loosening a bolt on the plough assembly and tightening when the required depth is reached. The quantity of soil covering the seeds is equally easy to set by modifying the angle of the soil cover plate.

The JP-1 is great value for money for the professional or serious amateur gardener alike! No other manual single row seeder offers these unique features:

  • it weighs just 9 kilograms! About half the weight of other manual single row seeders and yet it remains robust
  • 11 different spacing settings available thanks to the 6 sprockets delivered with the machine
  • the seeding roll is anti-static
  • the seeds are protected by the use of natural bristle for the brush used to dose the seeds taken up by the seeding roll
  • the unique transparent hopper is easier to clean and rust proof
  • its handy hopper cover is used to select the right seeding roll depending on seed diameter
  • the hopper permits the user to see the quantity of seed it contains at all times - no running out of seed in the middle of a row
  • it snaps on and off easily meaning there is no waste of left over seed - take it off and pour surplus seed back into the bag
  • depth set by a simple bolt on the plow assembly
  • many optional accessories make it suitable for a wide range of crops

Tips

Until today, we did not recommend using our small grain seeders for seeding beans.
Wishing to develop our drills and their functions to meet your expectations, we worked on new generation rolls which would be able to sow beans. It is now possible to do so, and we did some tests that we wish to share with you.
We have received two samples from one of our clients et we have added two more:

Test results:

Sample A:
With the J5-6 roll, one seed is selected. Brush settings: sligthly  raised.

Sample B:
With the G roll, one or two seeds are selected, brush settings: raised by 2-3 mm. With the C roll, one or two seeds are selected, brush settings :raised by 2-3mm.

Sample C:
With the J5-6 roll, one or two seeds are selected at the same time, brush settings : slightly raised.

Sample D:
With the J5-6 roll, there are some seeds missing, even with the brush raised to the maximum. With the N6 roll, brush raised to the maximum, we get doubles, with the brush raised to mid-height: we get about a seed at a time.

To find the roll best suited for your seeds, you can use the hopper lid.

You have found the correct size when the desired number of seeds fit in a hole, and when passing a finger over the seeds they do not pop out.

  • When the brush needs to be raised to let the seeds pass. That is to say, when the seeds are too big for the roll (they stick out a little).
  • If planting in bunches.
  • When doing spread planting, in this case, using a soil opener is recommended (the 60mm soil opener should be fine).

In general, the roll is well suited for planting the chosen seed when the roll does not select more than a seed at a time (or maybe 2 for carrots), and when the brush touches the roller without touching the seed that is in the hole.

For seeding in bunches, the roller is suitable if it selects the desired number of seeds without being hindered by the brush (which can be raised, in this case one should remove the guide plate).
